Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar is one of the American and British sitarist. She was the first and youngest woman to receive an award from the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka Sitar Shankar was the Indian young sitar singer. She is Ravi Shankar's student and is also his daughter. She was born 1982 in London. Her childhood years were spent between London in London and New Delhi. In the age of thirteen, she gave her first performance at New Delhi. Then the same year, in Encinitas CA she attended high school and graduated with distinction in the year 1999. Anouskha is still pursuing a successful career in recording and performing even though she's only a teenager. She often joins her father in performances this she has been doing for several years. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. It was nominated for a Grammy Award. Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. As she's appeared on all the major stages in across the globe, she's stage career has been expansive. Anoushka Shakar's talents are not restricted to just music. In 2002 she published the book Bapi The of My Life. of My Live this is a picture-based biography, which gives a special respect to her dad Ravi Shankar. The year 2003 saw her was a part as a character in Dance Like a Man as the Bharat Natyam artist. Anoushka is still progressing in her career and there will be many other things to be expected from this talented lady. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent much of her childhood in London and Delhi after which she moved to California where she attended the high school. at the age of nine she began her studies in music with her father. The first time she performed on the Sitar took place at her 75th Birthday celebration in Delhi, four years after. Anoushka gained a lot of knowledge by traveling around the globe with her dad. She appeared at Carnegie Hall in her teenage period, as well as recorded for George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. As a tribute to her status as a leading musician of Asian Arts, she was awarded the House of Commons Shield by British parliament.
